About the art:
Being a Digby County native, Maud Lewis is a major inspiration. The replica of her tiny house is about ten minutes from my childhood home and I loved seeing her original home on display at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Every now and then I dig out some books about her and watch her story in documentaries or the Maudie movie. She was an amazing little lady. This is my attempt to pay homage to her and my Digby town.
Originally painted in watercolour, I used a reference photo of the Maud Lewis Replica House in Seabrook, Nova Scotia.
