Description

Being a Digby County native, Maud Lewis is a major inspiration. The replica of her tiny house is about ten minutes from my childhood home and I’ve seen the original in person at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Every now and then I dig out some books about her and watch her story in documentaries or the Maudie movie. She was an amazing little lady. This is my attempt to pay homage to her and my Digby town.

I used a reference photo of the Maud Lewis Replica House in Seabrook, Nova Scotia. The replica was built by Murray Ross after Maud’s original house was relocated to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. For more info, check out CBC’s interview with Ross here: https://bit.ly/2YtWIuN

This framed art is printed on thick, durable, matte paper. The matte black frame that’s made from wood from renewable forests adds an extra touch of class.

I bought this as a Christmas gift to a true-blue Maud Lewis lover and she was absolutely delighted. The artwork arrived exactly as pictured in a sturdy, classy frame. It hangs beautifully above their dining room table to this day.
